Bathurst District Historical Society

Located in the town of Bathurst, on Wiradjuri Country, in the Central Tablelands region of New South Wales, the Bathurst District Historical Society Museum, archives, and bookshop are located in the East Wing of the heritage-listed Bathurst Courthouse, designed by Colonial Architect James Barnett.

The Society is dedicated to preserving, displaying and telling stories of Bathurst and the surrounding area. It is a ‘not to be missed’ historical museum in the Central West of NSW.

The collection is made up of objects that document local and regional developments such as contacts with explorers and surveyors, the growth of the garrison town, the Europeans’ discovery of gold in the region, the formation of Cobb and Co., and the region’s bush ranging history.
