Morpeth Museum
Morpeth Museum occupies the restored Morpeth Courthouse overlooking the Hunter River in the village of Morpeth, on Wonnarua Country, in the Hunter region of New South Wales.
Once a busy river port, filled with bond stores and hotels, Morpeth was the trading gateway to the Hunter Valley between 1832 and 1920, home to convict families, dairy farmers, sailors, bullockies and railway workers. In more recent times, Morpeth became associated with iconic Oak milkshakes and Arnott’s biscuits.
The museum features artefact and photographic displays illustrating the town’s social, commercial and maritime histories from the early nineteenth century through to the present day.
